JOHNSONVILLE — Tristyn Prosser has been dealing with heart issues since 2017.
Now, at just 8-years old, she’s dealing with complications from a heart transplant.
Cooks for Christ will help raise money for Prosser and her family on Sept. 14 with a chicken bog fundraiser. The organization will prepare thousands of plates loaded with chicken bog, green beans, slaw and a slice of bread to help cover the family’s medical costs.
Since Prosser’s body began rejecting her heart transplant, she has done weekly infusions to keep the rejection at bay. She also has regular heart caths, blood work visits and biopsies to help keep track of her condition.
Volunteers will prepare food and deliver it to cars at the West Florence Fire Station at 3379 Pine Needles Road. Meals will be available from 11 a.m. through 6 p.m. with a bake sale onsite.
