September 28, 1928 July 29, 2020 Ethel Moon “Mooney” Cox, a long-time resident of Roanoke, Va., handed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. When she handed, she was with household and surrounded by love. In her ultimate moments, she listened to a favourite hymn, “I will Fly Away,” and walked via the gates of Heaven with the grace, magnificence, and the smile she carried all her earthly days. Born on September 28, 1928, in Lengthy Island, Va., Mooney lived a stupendous and achieved life, full of household, pals and years of affection and laughter. Born to Charlie and Christine Moon, she had one sister, Irola Cothran, and one brother, Edward (Billy) Moon. After highschool, Mooney attended enterprise college in Lynchburg, the place she met her late husband, Rufus Okay. Cox. They had been married in Lynchburg and settled in Roanoke to lift their household. Rudy and Mooney owned and operated Rudy Cox Realtors for over 50 years. Mooney was a member of South Roanoke United Methodist Church and the Roanoke Valley Board of Realtors. She was a devoted mom firstly. Her best pleasure in life was her household and she or he embraced each second with them. She particularly cherished her function as “Moo Moo” and she or he devoted her coronary heart and time to her youngsters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grandpups. She was a tremendous cook dinner, and her household and pals all the time cherished her recipes. Mooney has a present for connection and was all the time a gracious host to family and friends. Mooney traveled the world, however she was all the time happiest sharing a great meal with household or enjoying bridge along with her pals. We’ll keep in mind her kindness, her grace, her smile, and her heat coronary heart. Her quiet energy, sturdy religion and constructive outlook had been presents of a life well-lived to all her cherished her. She was predeceased by her husband of over 64 years, Rudy Cox; her brother, Billy Moon; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lynda and Don Nebrig. Left to cherish her reminiscence are her 5 youngsters, Sandy Keating (Don), Steve Cox (Cindy), Connie Theroux (Wealthy), Susan Birckhead (Stan), and Chrystie Wright (Michael); seven grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irola; a sister-in-law, Sharon; and quite a few nieces and nephews. On account of Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of Mooney’s life will probably be held within the fall.
