Local motorcycle club hosts charity ride for first grader’s heart transplant

JOHNSTON, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Southern Eagles Motorbike Membership hosted a charity experience Sunday. It was all for first grader Lamere Johnson, who’s in want of a life-saving coronary heart transplant.

“Lamere’s had three open coronary heart surgical procedures by the point he was three years previous,” stated his mother Contessa Culbreath.

Many of the outreach began when Lamere’s school began selling paper heart mementoes for his transplant back in February throughout a fundraiser referred to as “Hearts for Lamere.”

Since then, his mother says folks all throughout the nation have reached out to attempt to assist. Kansas Metropolis Chiefs participant, and Johnston native, Antonio Hamilton even made a $30,000 donation.

“He wants $45,000 to $75,000 from my understanding. We determined to get out, and simply throw collectively a bit of previous experience,” stated the president of the Southern Eagles Motorbike Membership, Kelvin B. Thomas, Sr..

Lamere’s household says they’re grateful for all of the help they’ve obtained from Johnston and past.

“It’s superb. God has actually blessed this fundraiser, he’s blessed Lamere, he’s blessed the folks which might be over the fundraiser,” stated his mother.

Employees at Lamere’s faculty Belvedere Elementary describe him as a bubbly, humorous man within the classroom.

“He doesn’t let his sickness management him, he doesn’t let it get in his head, it doesn’t have an effect on him,” stated Makinzie Corley, a trainer at Johnston Elementary Faculty. “And that’s the better part about him– is the way in which that he’s with us, is the way in which that he’s with all people else. He’s so vivid, and loving, and inspiring, and provoking.”

The Southern Eagles Motorbike Membership tells us they have been capable of increase $1,800 for when Lamere is taken off the waitlist for his coronary heart.

“Simply proceed to wish for us, and pray that Lamere will get a coronary heart quickly,” stated his mother.
