I was an altruistic donor at age 60. I am 62 now. It is far and away the best thing I will ever do in my life. I feel fine. You can live your life just the same after donation as before. I am living breathing proof.
The transplant recipient said it best. "Amazing, simply amazing". Both of these indivdiuals – Jennifer Gommer and Bradley Dean – are selfless and courageous. To lay your life on the line for another human being takes great bravery, but to do so for someone you have never met is inspiring. How awesome
Wow, I am also honored to say I personally know Brad Dean and did not know he was donating a kidney until he was already at Duke a day or two before the surgery. And I have not once heard him talk about it afterwards. That is just the type of guy Brad Dean is. Just an amazing act of kindness and a perfect example of how we should live our lives.
We prayed for all involved and it is awesome to see this video, the people involved and the great health and happiness created from this program!
Proud to say, I know Brad Dean. What a hero.
More folks need to step up to the plate and save lives through organ transplantation.
What an incredibly moving video filled with self-less love for others.
How wonderful, this video is beautiful. Does anyone know where this was filmed? the beach footage is gorgeous. This story is so inspiring. Seeing the two daughters with their mother brings tears to my eyes. It reminded me of my mother who suffered from kidney failure. God bless the doctors and nurses who made this possible. I am inspired merely by watching this video.
Amazing. Simply amazing. I keep watching this video and can barely believe it. I have known two people who have died from kidney disease. We prayed and prayed for someone like Bradley Dean to show up. What a selfless act. When the woman says she was "watching her mother die" my heart breaks. The people at Duke deserve a lot of credit for putting these people together. What a beautiful, special miracle. I hope if I ever need a transplant someone will show up for me like this.
So glad to be a part of the Duke team.
