lol 3:55 today i learned a new way to explain acute renal failure
Thanks so much 😘
Hugefan!
Good info, except now blood transfusion is no longer prescribed (lowers chance of qualifying or straight out disqualies dialysis patients for kidney transplant).
I would not call it a "refrigerator" as the machines are usually set to 36-37 degrees celsius. Also, units of blood are rarely given unless Hgb is less than 7, as this decreases their chances of getting a kidney transplant in future.
Great video. Just a note, everyone was a new nurse once so rolling your eyes at them for asking questions is a little nasty. I would hope that a new nurse would feel comfortable asking me for help without fear of ridicule. i remember what being new felt like.
Thank you so much for this. 😭❤
Please help the sir bachleors in dailysis and bachleors in nursing will be same
I am sorry I hate fluid pills. LMAO
At around 4 minutes and 30 seconds you say something about making sure the patient doesn't take iron but I would think they should because they generally have kidney-failure related anemia?
You say ESRD pt shouldn't be make urine ?? My husband still pees like a horse with diagnose of ESRD . He just started dialysis too . Still pee . BP is elevated during dialysis and after . Why is it that he still makes loads of urine with ESRD?? Can someone please reply back ??? I've ask his doc before and he just said well it's good that he can still pee ?? But how ?? Why ?? Doesn't he have ESRD which Would make it possible to make urine ??
Hello… What is the nursing management for hemodialysis patients with increased IOP, Or post Eye operation?
Question!! If you have a patient who starts to present with altered mental status, would you just expect that since all of the toxins are building up in the system or would you be worried??
I never took diet into consideration. Your videos always help me out. Thanks for all your hard work=)
thank youuuu biggg time that helped me a lot. 🌹
Great informative video!
hi there do you have any lupus videos ?
Hi, I am a patient in ESRF, not yet on Dialysis, and educating myself on what to expect in the next chapter of my life. I have high BP, but it is not what caused my renal failure…I have an autoimmune problem, witch you did not list as a possible cause of CKD. I have IgA Nephropathy. There was nothing I could have done medically or by life style, to changes the outcome of my present stage 4D. My own bodies immune system is what caused the irreversible damage to both of my kidneys, and you should add this to your list of what can be causes of CKD/ ESRF. I would also use caution and/or be more aware of the language used( ie :fried, toasted, shot etc..) as to be more sensitive to the patient out there that may be (like myself) looking for answers and trying to understand what is happening with our bodies. Thank you for the information, it was very helpful.
Great information and breakdown!
looooolsing@ big refrigerator of a hemodiaylsis machine
I work in dialysis as a tech but we don't give blood suppliments (or blood transfusion) with dialysis however we do give epogen or aranesp to maintain iron and H/H. so I don't understand when he says dialysis is normally given with blood transfusion. we only do blood transfusion when our patents are at a >7h/h.
BP meds also sometimes make it much harder to remove fluid because the BP drops prematurely before you can remove excess fluid. This is a common problem we had in our acute unit.
Hey Michael
I gotta say that you have everything aligned with renal failure and the nephrology field. I am a hemodialysis patient and on the list for a third kidney transplant. I have been on hemodialysis for 10 1/2 years and I have been diagnose with chronic renal failure at 10 days old. I have been battling for 28 years now and still counting.
Hooray!!!! you are so brilliant at this!!! what a life saver!!! I am clicking my heels like dorothy… telling myself… "There's no place like Nursing school, There's no place like Nursing school, There's no place like nursing school! Yes i am so lame!!! lol!!!
